Deutsches RSC-File für MyMail
Dank des Einsatzes von Bernd Maedicke, gibt es seit heute ein neues deutsches RSC-File für das Mailprogramm MyMail von Erik Häll. Das RSC-File kann von der Homepage des Autors heruntergeladen werden.

HighWire 0.5 veröffentlicht
The HighWire Development team is proud to announce the latest release ofHighWire 0.05.

With this release, HighWire now displays GIF images. GIF support required a bitof porting work for the team, but we now have the most current versions of Zliband libungif working for LatticeC, PureC and GCC. These will prepare the wayfor even more supports in the future. With GIF files displaying in HighWire,work was required on the IMG tag support. There are still some problems withthe IMG tag currently. But they are not related directly to GIF support and areof a more general nature. There has been and will continue to be work in thisarea.

Text formatting was another major area of work in this version. Problems withjustification, alignment and colours having been dealt with. Work was also doneon lists and their display. Not to mention low level improvements on fontsizing.

Bugs were eliminated at a furious pace, with more bug reports being eliminatedfrom the bugtracker site than in any previous version. Small problems with GDOSdetection and redraws were dealt with among others. The final result being ageneral improvement in the function of the program.

· New files of configuration (incorporation of themes of desktop and window).

Following bug corrections :

· Redraw correct of windows of the application under Magic.
· Redraw correct of the bar of the main window at the time of a displacement.
· Rewrite of the ICONIFY routines and ALLICONIFY.
· Display correct of bars of windows of the other applications in multitask mode.
· Programs is no more blocking in multitask mode.
· Programs functions now in all graphic fashions (1 bit to the 32 bits).
· The allocated memory is henceforth correct. Thank's to Eric REBOUX for the MEMDEBUG program.

Kurznews: st-computer Website offline
Seit einigen Stunden ist die Website der st-computer nicht mehr erreichbar. Statt dessen erwartet den Informationsdurstigen Atari-User eine Platzhalterseite der Firma Cybermantec, derselben Firma, die auch die Domain atari.de hostet (mit demselben Vermerk des Platzhalters).

Lässt sich hoffen, daß der Fehler schnell behoben wird.

Surfen in der Vergangenheit: Atari.com & Co. wie sie vor 5 Jahren aussahen
Auf der website des "web archives" können interessierte Internet-Nutzer in den ehemaligen Versionen von Webseiten stöbern. Die Eingabe von "www.atari.com" zeigt zum Beispiel die Atari – Website vor der Übernahme durch Hasbro Interactive. Damals zeigte sich unter www.atari.com noch das JagWire Magazine, die Community für den Atari Jaguar.

Auch andere interessante Web-Relikte, wie zum Beispiel die Anfänge der ST-Computer Seiten oder von Atari.Org lassen den geneigten Leser in Nostalgie schwelgen.

Das Archiv beinhaltet Seiten seit 1996. Auch das surfen ist (wenn auch begrenzt) in diesen Seiten möglich. Ein Blick in die Vergangenheit lohnt sich in jedem Fall.

Neuer TOS-Emulator für Linux: STonC
Basierend auf STonX gibt es STonC, einen ST-Emulator, der bewußt auf AES,Sound, Maus und Joysticks verzichtet. Der Emulator ist gut genug, um minix,MiNT, nethack und einige TOS-Programme laufen zu lassen. Um STonC zukompilieren wird neben GnuC nur die curses Library benötigt.

ArthurXP erfährt Update auf Version 2.08
ArthurXP liegt in einer neuen Version 2.08 vor. Folgende Änderungen sind vorgenommen worden:

scrollbare MagiC-Editfelder
größenveränderbare Elementleisten
Sortierfunktion in den Elementleisten
horizontaler Scrollbalken
Vorbereitung für die ASCII-basierten Arthur-Datenbanken

Weiterhin gibt es zu berichten, daß sich Berta, der Datenbankeditor, bereits in Entwicklung befindet.Mit Berta können Sie dann eigene Datenbanken leicht und komfortabel erstellen.Datenbanken haben keine Elementbegrenzung und können in das verschlüsselte Binärformat oder imArthurXP-ASCII-Format erstellt werden (Binärformat durch Kompilieren).Für kleinere Datenbanken bietet sich das ASCII-basierte Datenbankformat an,da es dort auf Grund der geringeren Größe nicht auf ultimative Geschwindigkeitankommt. Beispiel hierfür sind Adressbücher, Kochrezepte oder Ähnliches.
